MEND

Since Autumn 2009 GCDA have been supporting the delivery of the Greenwich MEND Programme. MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do it) is a fun free healthy living programme for children who are above their ideal weight, and their parents. NHS Greenwich in partnership with GCDA and Greenwich Leisure Limited offer this10 week programme for children aged 7 to 13 who live in Greenwich or attend a Greenwich school.

The Mend Programme is not just about weight loss, it teaches children and their families how to become fitter, healthier and happier for life. On the programme children and their parents or carers learn about healthy eating and how to become more active, through learning how to read food labels, understanding fats and sugars and learning the difference between refined and unrefined foods. They would also learn how to change their eating and exercise habits through goals and rewards and how being active can be fun.

The Mend programme runs at the Waterfront leisure centre, Woolwich SE18 from 6pm to 8pm Monday and Thursday evening and Arches Leisure centre, Greenwich SE10 from 5pm to 7pm Monday and Thursday.
