Local Food Fund
The Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (RSWT) is a registered charity, incorporated by Royal Charter to
promote conservation and manage environmental funds. Although a charity in its own right, RSWT also operates
as an umbrella group for the 47 local Wildlife Trusts that have been formed across the UK, helping to
co-ordinate their activities and campaigning at a UK level.
The RSWT now incorporate the Local Food Schemes. Local Food, a new and exciting grants programme funded by
the Big Lottery Fund, opened for applications on 17 March 2008. The £50 million programme aimed at making
locally grown food accessible and affordable to local communities has been developed by a consortium of
organisations, and is managed on their behalf by
The Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (RSWT).
